Southland featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover show
On August 20th, Southland’s Mid-Atlantic division received a call from the ABC network in regards to a new project they were about to start working on for the television show Extreme Makeover. Although Extreme Makeover usually focuses on residential construction, ABC was putting together a special project in the Washington D.C. metro area which consisted of the demolition and construction of a new house and community center.
Southland was asked to provide voluntary plumbing assistance on the Fishing School community center project which was demolished on the 23rd of August. Once the project was demolished, crews of volunteers started working around the clock building a new 7,000 square foot, high efficiency community center. The new facility was rebuilt in just one week, and the keys to the new facility were turned over on Sunday, August 30th.
On February 14th at 8:00 p.m., the ABC Network will air the Fishing School project as a two hour special so please be sure to tune in to see this exciting project come together. Southland would also like to thank the following volunteers who donated their time and effort to this great cause:
Chris Gavin, Frank George, James George, Pete Gray, Cliff Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Mike Lyon, Matt Scheer, Jack Schoen, Azael Sanchez, Jermaine Savoy, Alan Shaverl, Seth Shaver, Felicia Snell, James Rivera, Gary Campbell, Mike Shavatt, Jim Haller and J. Gilbert.
